HOW IT ALL STARTED..
In 2023, Olga Cotofana, Senior Director of Design at Property Market Groups (PMG), assigned Elena Kochetkova the important task of creating detailed architectural sketches of PMG's landmark buildings developed over the years. With over four decades of architectural experience and a fervent passion for design, Elena eagerly embraced this creative challenge. She meticulously crafted each sketch, capturing the essence and unique features of each building. Elena continues working for PMG and delivers new sketches every year.
The collection of these framed projects, which showcase her exceptional talent and dedication, was added to the halls of the Elser Hotel Brickell, with her architectural sketches now proudly featured in each hall of the hotel. They are also displayed at PMG's office in the Elser Tower, located in the vibrant Brickell district of Miami. This display not only highlights PMG's architectural achievements but also serves as an inspiring testament to the collaborative efforts of their design team.

Douglas House, Harbor Springs, Michigan Architectural Sketch by Elena Kochetkova, 2024, pencil, charcoal on paper, 40 x 26 in
In 2024, as part of her acclaimed series of large-scale sketches celebrating the world’s greatest architectural masterpieces, Elena Kochetkova created this striking rendition of the iconic Douglas House by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Richard Meier.
Dramatically nestled within a dense forest, the house exemplifies Meier’s signature modernist vocabulary through its crisp white geometric volumes, precise grid of glass facades, strong horizontal lines, and sculptural vertical chimneys. Elena masterfully captures the building’s luminous purity and its harmonious dialogue with the surrounding woodland, using rich tonal shading and meticulous linework to convey both structural clarity and poetic presence.

Dramatically embedded into the steep slopes of the Rokko Mountains, the complex exemplifies Ando’s masterful use of raw concrete, geometric precision, and profound dialogue with the natural landscape. Elena captures the building’s bold terraced forms, rhythmic structural grid, and the striking contrast between the solid concrete masses and the surrounding lush greenery with exceptional depth and shading.

Galleria degli Uffizi (Uffizi Gallery), Florence Architectural Sketch by Elena Kochetkova, 2024
In 2024, as part of her acclaimed series of large-scale sketches celebrating the world’s greatest architectural masterpieces, Elena Kochetkova created this striking rendition of the iconic Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence, Italy.
Commissioned in 1560 by Cosimo I de’ Medici, the building was designed by the renowned architect Giorgio Vasari to house the administrative offices of the Florentine state — hence its name “Uffizi,” meaning “offices” in Italian. Vasari’s elegant U-shaped design, graceful colonnades, and refined Mannerist proportions transformed a functional government complex into one of the most influential and harmonious architectural achievements of the Renaissance. Later completed by Bernardo Buontalenti and Alfonso Parigi the Elder, the Uffizi eventually became home to one of the world’s most celebrated art collections.
Through meticulous detail and artistic sensitivity, Elena masterfully captures the timeless grandeur, perfect symmetry, and enduring beauty of Vasari’s landmark design. This powerful sketch is part of the permanent collection displayed throughout the halls of the Elser Hotel Brickell in Miami.
Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Bilbao, Spain Architectural Sketch by Elena Kochetkova, 2024
In 2024, as part of her acclaimed series of large-scale sketches celebrating the world’s greatest architectural masterpieces, Elena Kochetkova created this powerful rendition of the iconic Guggenheim Museum Bilbao by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehry.
Completed in 1997, the museum is celebrated for its revolutionary deconstructivist design — a dramatic cluster of curving titanium-clad forms, tilted volumes, and sculptural shapes that appear to dance and flow along the Nervión River. Elena expertly captures the building’s dynamic energy, intricate panel grid, and bold architectural expression through masterful shading and precise detailing.

Completed in 1984, the skyscraper is celebrated as a landmark of postmodern architecture. It masterfully blends modernist rigor with playful classical references — most notably its dramatic broken pediment “Chippendale” top, rhythmic grid of windows, and grand arched entrance. Elena captures the building’s monumental presence and architectural wit with exceptional precision and rich tonal shading. A whimsical hot air balloon in the sky adds a delightful sense of scale and lightness to the composition.

Rising as Miami’s first supertall skyscraper along the waterfront, the building features a bold, sculptural composition of stacked, offset glass cubes with a rhythmic grid facade.
Mont Saint-Michel, Normandy, France Architectural Sketch by Elena Kochetkova, 2024
In 2024, as part of her acclaimed series of large-scale sketches celebrating the world’s greatest architectural masterpieces, Elena Kochetkova created this breathtaking rendition of the legendary Mont Saint-Michel.
When Elena was traveling in France, Mont Saint-Michel was her favorite place to visit, and she was very inspired by its timeless beauty, spiritual atmosphere, and dramatic tidal setting. Rising dramatically from the tidal bay in Normandy, this iconic medieval abbey and fortified island village is a masterpiece of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, built over nearly eight centuries by generations of Benedictine monks, architects, and artisans. The sketch vividly portrays the majestic silhouette crowned by its soaring spire, the intricate layers of stone buildings and ramparts cascading down the rocky mount, and its ethereal, dreamlike presence reflected in the surrounding waters.

Elena has long been profoundly inspired by Rossi’s rationalist philosophy, his masterful use of archetypal forms, and the quiet, timeless monumentality that defines his work. Completed in 1989, the hotel features a symmetrical, multi-story facade with a rhythmic grid of open colonnades and loggias across its upper floors, a robust brick-and-stone base with a central staircase leading to the entrance, and flanking pavilions each pierced by a distinctive circular oculus window. The clean lines, repetitive structural elements, and balanced proportions embody Rossi’s deep engagement with architectural typology and collective memory.
